CARE GUIDE AND RETURNS
Care For Your Jewellery
Looking after and loving your pieces ensures they will love you right back. All metals will soften and fade over time, to lengthen the life of your jewels we suggest adhering to the below guidelines.
~ Sterling silver, like other precious metal alloys, can oxidise with time. But properly maintained silver jewellery improves with age and develops a lush patina. Treat your silver well, care for it properly and it will reward you with a long life and a lustrous look. Store pieces individually so that they don’t knock together and scratch. Ensure to only use a silver cloth when polishing your sterling silver jewellery. Don’t wear sterling silver in highly toxic chlorinated water (Heated Spas) or when using bleaching products. To remove any tarnish the simple use of a special Silver Dip or rubbing with a Silver Cloth is all that is required to renew the brilliance and shine.
~ Gold-filled jewellery is composed of a solid layer of gold mechanically bonded to a base of either sterling silver or some base metal. The related terms "rolled gold plate" and "gold overlay" may legally be used in some contexts if the layer of gold constitutes less than 5% of the item's weight. Gold filled jewellery will last a lifetime and will not fade. If you've been to the gym, beach or in a pool always remember to rinse your gold filled jewellery in warm water and then dry it with the same absorbent soft cloth.
~ Gold Vermeil (pronounced vehr-may; it's French!) is a legally regulated term that refers to a certain kind of quality jewellery. To be legally called "vermeil" internationally, the jewellery piece must be plated in gold that is at least 10k (10 karats). That means the gold is at least 2.5 microns thick. Avoid contact with soaps, cleansers, toners, shampoos and conditioners when showering.Ensure your gold Vermeil jewellery is placed on after you’ve applied your perfume, lotion or put on makeup.Take off your rings or bracelets before chopping any high acidic foods or using kitchen cleaning products. Avoid swimming in your gold Vermeil jewellery.
